The story behind

Voice guided swim trainings are the solution for many problems swimmers may encounter during their training. The Founders of SwimVoiceCoach themselves encountered their own difficulties during their training sessions and in response developed a simple and ingenious solution: SwimVoiceCoach

I was able to keep track fairly well up to 300m but after that I would always end up forgetting how many laps I had swam.

Triathlon coach Alain, one of the two Founders of SwimVoiceCoach, speaks from personal experience. “I remember” explains Alain “that I could never keep track of the number of laps I had swam during long training sessions. I was able to keep track fairly well up to 300m but after that I would always end up forgetting how many laps I had swam. This would drive me crazy! I also used to have a lot of problems with keeping the pace. I would start off too fast and gradually get slower.” Runners and cyclists had already developed apps and new technologies to help them with their trainings:” Nowadays runners use GPS watches or heart rate at the very least. Cyclists often work with power meters. Swimmers still don’t have a similar technology to help them optimize their training.” As Gabriel, the second Founder of SwimVoiceCoach comments : “for swimmers, there was only one possibility: to train your feeling for the pace properly”. During this time waterproof headphones were invented.

The swimmer never has to worry about pace or keeping track of laps and can now focus on achieving his best performance while listening to his favorite tunes.

Thanks to the headphones, swimmers could integrate their own playlist to motivate them and help them power through their training with music. However, the Founders quickly realized the potential of these waterproof headphones which opened up a whole world of endless possibilities. As Gabriel explains: “With voice guided trainings, we soon imagined new possibilities. Athletes can now gradually work toward achieving their next goal while never loosing focus on their ultimate goal. The swimmer never has to worry about pace or keeping track of laps and can now focus on achieving his best performance while listening to his favorite tunes!” – SwimVoiceCoach was born!

“The first prototype was completely different to the product we have now developed” notes Gabriel while remembering that already from the very beginning he had realized the “great potential behind it” and had encouraged Alain to pursue the idea especially once both Founders realized the terrific impact SwimVoiceCoach could have on athletes by helping them reach their goals. Alain remembers the adjustments that were made along the way to SwimVoiceCoach: “In some tests, the pace was not set properly and too fast for the swimmer, but it was very surprising to see how the athlete fought to keep up the pace.” Obviously we had found a powerful way to unleash the swimmers full potential.

Together, Alain and Gabriel have created a new company and have developed SwimVoiceCoach. Both agree that the development stage was a “very intense and interesting time” but both are now very curious to find out what’s next and how athletes will respond to their invention. They hope that SwimVoiceCoach will bring fun as well as efficiency to every athlete’s training!
